5. Update the Theme

5.1. Envato Market Clients:

Please go to updates in your main WP navigation menu and see the new theme version. Update.

See the screenshot below:

If you still don't see any available updates, please reload the Dashboard > Updates page twice to force WP to check for updates.

5.1. Envato Elemente Clients:

Envato Elements' Clients can only update the theme and bundled plugins using FTP.

The latest version of the bundled plugins can be found in this directory /theme-name/vamtam/plugins.

You can check the theme's changelog here: https://vamtam.com/changelog/

6. Update the bundled plugins one by one

After updating the theme, go to updates in your main WP navigation menu and update the bundled plugins that need to be updated. If you are on low-cost hosting, updating the plugins one by one is best to avoid crashes.

If you still don't see any available updates, please reload the Dashboard> Updates page twice to force WP to check for updates.

See the screenshot below:

7. Updating the third-party plugins one by one

After updating the bundled plugins, go to updates in your main WP navigation menu and update the third-party plugins that need to be updated. If you are on low-cost hosting, updating the plugins one by one is best to avoid crashes.

If you still don't see any available updates, please reload the Dashboard > Updates page twice to force WP to check for updates.

Third-party plugins are the ones that do not come with the theme and are not supported by us.

8. Clear the cache

After updating the theme and the plugins, you should always clear the site and browser cache.

Check this guide for more information: How to clear the Cache after a Theme or Plugin update

Important

If you still don't see any available updates, please reload the Dashboard > Updates page twice to force WP to check for updates. You can check the theme's changelog here: https://vamtam.com/changelog/

The updates are essential as we fix bugs, provide new features and improvements and make the theme compatible with newer WordPress versions.

Remember to make a backup if anything goes wrong or you've made a mistake during the update process.

Your theme options and the content will not be affected by the update.

Any modifications to the theme files will be overwritten after an automatic update if you haven't used a child theme or the Custom CSS area in General Settings.

If it's your first time installing a theme, check this guide - Installation guide.

Troubleshooting

Most often, the issues you have related to the update process are due to one of the following reasons:

Incompatible WordPress version

The latest WordPress version is not always compatible with the theme because the theme update comes sometime after the WordPress update has been released.

You can check the compatible WordPress versions on the theme's presentation page on Themeforest. If in doubt, you can ask the  Support Team.

In case you've updated your WordPress, and the theme update compatible with the version you have is not yet out, you have three options:

- to wait for the theme update

- to restore your site from  a backup

- to downgrade your WordPress to a version compatible with the theme

Incompatible plugins

If you are running plugins that do not come and are not supported by the theme, make sure they are compatible with the WordPress version you are about to update/install. If the updates don't fix the issue you encounter, then deactivate the plugins that don't come with the theme and test.

Old plugin version

Make sure that all plugins you are updating are compatible with the theme version and the WordPress version.

Complete point 2,4,5 of this guide.

Network Installation

If you use this theme on a network installation of WordPress (formerly called Multisite), you will need to click the "Save changes" button in each website's admin panel and the main network site. This will clear and regenerate any caches used by the theme, as such caches may be different for the sites.

Renamed theme folder

The automatic update feature will stop functioning if you change the theme folder name.

style.css has been changed

The automatic update feature will stop functioning if you change the information in this file. Please restore the original version and ensure the theme version number is not the latest.
